First, we compared Pink Zebra to Moving APT. While Moving APT does have a slightly higher customer rating than Pink Zebra, Pink Zebra’s list of moving services is pretty hard to beat. Moving APT is also a lot cheaper – even their highest estimate was just over half of the price of the Pink Zebra move.
It’s easy to spring for the cheapest option, but we alway recommend against making your choice just because the price. Pink Zebra is a lot pricier, but if you need disaster cleanup, or even just hands-off pickup and delivery to offload some of your stuff, they can really help out.
Next up, we compared Pink Zebra against Mayzlin Relocation. They both offer a similar amount of services, but Mayzlin is a lot cheaper. They also have a similar customer rating. To be fair, Mayzlin is one of our favorites (and it’s easy to see why) so they’re hard to beat.
If you’re trying to decide between Pink Zebra and Mayzlin, it’ll ultimately depend on what services you absolutely MUST HAVE. If you’re trying to save some cash on a partial-DIY move, you can choose Pink Zebra for some helping hands – and the price probably won’t be as steep as our $13,000 estimate, either.
Our initial quote was for $13,328.00. Fortunately, we got a 10% discount. To get our quote, we called up Pink Zebra and told them we were moving a two-bedroom house from Wilmington NC to Winnetka, CA. That’s about 2,621 miles. Like other moving companies, Pink Zebra calculates their long distance moves based on weight and distance.
Pink Zebra offers a la carte options that you can pick and choose depending on what you need, but it’ll affect your final price. When we called in, we requested pricing options for a move without packing, and a move with packing. Our moving rep sent us a price list for packing supplies, but left us to do our own number-crunching.
If you’re trying to save some money on your move, we recommend ordering boxes from Pink Zebra and packing them yourself, rather than paying for their packing services. While the cost of one of their medium boxes is about $6, it becomes $21 if you buy it and have them pack it for you!
Our Quote from Pink Zebra Moving, after Josh hooked us up with a 10% discount.
Pink Zebra Moving does offer some discounts. Josh hooked us up with a discount code for 10% off when we asked how we could save some cash on our move. It’s also worth mentioning how Pink Zebra charges by weight: They’ll issue a quote based on your inventory list, but then they’ll weigh your belongings. If your weight comes out less than expected, they’ll lower your price even more!
Type of Discount | Potential Savings |
---|---|
10% Discount Code | $1,332.80 |
Weight Discount | Varies depending on final weight |
We called Pink Zebra Moving for our quote, and the process was pretty painless and straightforward. No annoying phone menu, and we didn’t need to wait on hold for very long, either – probably less than a minute. Our rep was helpful, and we got our quote emailed to us on the same day.
We started off by checking out Pink Zebra’s website to find a nearby franchise. We called up their Wilmington Branch, and we were on hold for about 30 seconds before Josh picked up. He was a solid rep, answering our questions and keeping things flowing without getting pushy or too sales-y.
Like most other movers, Pink Zebra requires extra info to deliver an accurate quote. Josh gave us a couple options: Do a virtual walk-through of our home, or work from an inventory list of all of our belongings. We sent him our inventory, and Josh processed it and emailed us our quote within the hour.
Next, it’s time to book your move. Since Pink Zebra bases prices off of weight, they actually weigh each moving truck before sending them to pick up your stuff. Then, they weigh the truck again so they get an idea of the actual per-pound weight of your move. If your weight is less than predicted in the estimate, they’ll cut down the price accordingly.

“Emran and Antonio of Pink Zebra movers were excellent! They were fast, professional and very thorough. They moved heavy furniture from a 3 story house like it was nothing. They covered the floors and wall corners to protect everything plus wrapped and delivered all furniture in perfect condition. We highly recommended Pink Zebra Moving and Team Emran and Antonio. Thanks again! Cheers!!!“

“Everyone was very nice and rates competitive, but in my opinion not the most professional. Had me sign saying I had received paperwork that they stated they currently didn’t have. I also felt that some furniture was wrapped very well while other pieces not so much. Damaged my son’s crib and stated it was noted and they took pictures, but never heard anything else about correcting it. That was seven days ago. Would use someone else if had to move again.”

On the whole, Pink Zebra has excellent reviews. We noticed a couple of “drive-by” 1-star reviews, but they had little elaboration, and couldn’t really be trusted since they didn’t provide much info. We did find a 3-star rating, but the customer service team at Pink Zebra was quick to reach out and see how they could make things right.
We received a “TBD” arrival date for our move. If Pink Zebra is like any of the other movers out there, the duration would depend on the distance and size of the move. Long distance moves can take anywhere from 1-21 days, but keep in mind that a small move may actually take longer than expected: Movers bundle moves together so there’s no wasted space on the truck.
A binding estimate means you’re getting charged exactly what’s on the estimate – nothing more, and nothing less. Unless you try to pull a fast one and throw in an extra piano or something on moving day, you’ll pay what’s on the estimate.
Pink Zebra has several branches across the US. We called their HQ in Wilmington, North Carolina, but they have other franchises in Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.
When we called in about a move to California, we were told that a cross-country move was no problem from North Carolina. They can also handle local moves in the states where they have franchised locations, but call ahead of time to make sure they can deliver to your destination if you’re going out of state.
Pink Zebra Moving offers a really impressive menu of services. Just want feng shui your bedroom? They offer furniture rearranging. Need some heavy-duty boxes? Check out their moving supplies.
At Moving Feedback, we do the heavy lifting so you don’t have to. We’re all about making sure you have up-to-date and accurate info, whether it’s about pricing, services, or whether you can trust a mover with your fine china.
When we review movers, we do more than just a Google search. We check their reviews, look up their licensing info, and finally call in and pose as customers to see how each moving company operates. We go through the whole process so you know what to expect.
The team at Moving Feedback has over 10 years of moving industry experience. We’re using what we’ve learned to make it easier to choose your movers, and we’re also using our know-how to call out shady practices when we see them. It’s all part of making sure your move is a success.
